Mission

The mission of Sanger Public Library is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of our community by providing information, cultural resources, and opportunities for personal growth and enrichment.

Our Collection

Sanger Public Library's growing collection includes more than 18,000 items, plus cardholders can access hundreds of thousands of additional items through 6 other area libraries in the North Texas Library Consortium.

We also offer a full slate of programs and special events that are free and open to the public.

North Texas Library ConsortiumNorth Texas Library Consortium (NTLC)

We are part of a consortium group with 6 other North Texas libraries called the North Texas Library Consortium.  Sanger Public Library cardholders are able to request materials from NTLC libraries for pickup in Sanger, as well as check out materials from NTLC libraries in person using their Sanger card.

Library History

1970

Sanger Public Library is founded by Eunice Gray and the Friends of the Library, with Mrs. Gray serving as librarian. It is located at the former Chapman Clinic.

1972

Sanger Public Library moves into the Historic Presbyterian Church, where it would be located for nearly 25 years.

1985

The library becomes a city department in the City of Sanger and Mrs. Vicky Elieson, a longtime volunteer, is hired as Library Director.

1995

The library opens at its current home at 501 Bolivar Street.


2013

Mrs. Elieson retires after serving as Library Director for 28 years. Ms. Audrey Tolle becomes the Library Director.

2017

Sanger Public Library and Komatsu Architecture perform a Community Survey and Needs Assessment to evaluate and prepare for the future needs of the community.

2020

Sanger Public Library celebrates two anniversaries. 2020 marks:

  • 50 years of Sanger Public Library
  • 25 years at our current home at 501 Bolivar Street
