The City of Sanger has once again been recognized for excellence in financial planning and transparency. The City has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the City’s 2025-26 Annual Budget, marking the ninth consecutive year Sanger has earned this prestigious honor. The GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. It reflects a significant achievement by the City and demonstrates the commitment of both elected officials and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive this award, the City’s budget document must meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well the budget serves four critical purposes: A policy document A financial plan An operations guide A communications device Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and meet fourteen mandatory criteria to qualify for the award. With more than 1,900 participants in the GFOA Budget Awards Program across North America, repeated recognition places Sanger among a select group of governments that consistently demonstrate best practices in public finance. “This achievement underscores the City of Sanger’s continued commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and clear communication with our residents,” said City leadership. “Earning this award for nine consecutive years reflects the dedication and professionalism of our staff and the City Council’s focus on thoughtful, long-term financial planning.” The Government Finance Officers Association advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, and practical research to support communities across the United States and Canada. The City of Sanger remains committed to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources and providing residents with clear, accessible information about how public funds are managed.
