Wastewater Treatment Plant UPDATE

For the past 2 months Felix Construction continues to make progress with the Plant Rehabilitation/Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion projects. They primarily worked on the raw wastewater pump station and the peak flow storage basin in August.

They have also worked on the sludge de-watering building and the old Plant #1 transformation. They were able to finish pouring concrete for the interior walls and roof section of the new Raw Wastewater Pumping Station.

New underground electrical duct banks have been installed in several locations throughout the plant and drain pipes have been installed beneath the new primary clarifiers. Abrasive grit blasting continues on the old Plant #1 unit in preparation for recoating the structure. Plant #3 was taken off-line on the 26th of September and Plant #4 was brought on-line, we are hoping this helps with some of the odor issues we have been experiencing.

Streets Department working on Reparing North Walnut Street

The streets department is working on repairing the north portion of Walnut Street. The pictures below you see them applying the lime stabilization to help with the subgrade (the underside of the road).

Flushing of Fire Hydrants

You may have noticed that fire hydrants are open and water is running down the streets around town. Although it appears that water is being wasted this is actually an important preventative maintenance activity that the City of Sanger undertakes to maintain the integrity of the water system.

The flushing process is done to remove minerals and sediment that naturally accumulate in water mains over the course of the year. This also allows us to check and record water pressure to ensure the proper operation of the system. We ensure that each one is properly maintained and available for use in the event of a fire.

As a result of the line flushing process, residents in the immediate area of the work may experience temporary discoloration of their water. This discoloration consists primarily of harmless silt and air and does not affect the safety of the water. If you experience discoloration in your water after crews have been flushing in your neighborhood, clear the pipes in your home by running all water faucets for a few minutes.

5th Street between Cowling and Austin has been reopened

We're sure all of you have been waiting on this. And we appreciate your patience. 5th Street between Cowling and Austin should be re-opened by the end of the day. Crews are moving barricades and cleaning the roads now.
